Dance Ville to host DIDACON2016

After two successful outings, Dance Ville is set to host the third edition of the Dance Ville International Dance Conference DIDACON2016. This year the theme is “Make Dance Work”

As the theme implies this year’s conference is targeted towards the spread of activities, responsibilities and structures for a vibrant dance industry. As the Governor of Dance Ville put it

 “Dance as an industry is made up or different levels, categories and types of professionals. Apart from the dancers and choreographers which everyone knows about, we have the directors, teachers, researchers, technical people, costumes, writers, producers, venue owners, music composers, financiers … several groups of individuals are involved in a proper dance production: either on stage and screen. 

People need to know the options they have to expand their client base and/or product versatility. This conference is not only for dancers but also for people in other genres of professions. We are providing a platform for dancers, dance practitioners and others in dance related activities to take advantage of options to sustain a life long career, and other professionals to take advantage of options dance provides to increase the quality of their services or products”

The conference is slated to hold from the 11^th -18^th of September 2016 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Nigeria and will round up as usual with the Amethyst Dance Awards.

QDance Sessions: Coming soon

 

The QDance Session is a performance lab initiated by the QDanceCenter, Ikoyi. A semi curated gathering of performers, curious audience, creative minds, story tellers, seekers of truth, makers of beauty, workers and students of life amongst others, coming together just as they are, for a rare moment of sharing and for the purpose of creatively occupying the "Now".

During these sessions, dance, live music, improvisations, discussions etc, will effortlessly converge and intersect, in an air of simplicity and of spontaneity, that takes on the forms of improvisatory drive, which blurs the lines between prior compositions and on-the-spot improvisation, creating an hybrid verb-space where actions speak louder than words, where memories are expanded through the five senses, where thoughts are reformed and new meanings are given to known forms.

It shouldn't be unusual that in an intense city like Lagos, for a small crowd to assemble on a Saturday evening, for a session of beauty. This gathering doesn't have the outlook of neither a performance per say, nor is it an open mic, it is simply a circle which allows the coming-through of our own inner music, it can be imagined as an open jam sessions that leads nowhere. Using basic principles of performance, as a way to look into and examine the growth of human interactions, where every participant is an important component, and the simple beauty of that interaction shall be our bottom line.

Amethyst Dance Awards 2014

The Amethyst Dance Initiative is launching its first project, THE AMETHYST DANCE AWARDS. This event is about honouring dance veterans and individuals who have participated in dance related activities.
Though it is the first edition, the #Amethystdanceawards will be holding during the 2nd Dance Ville International Dance Championship.

Dance Diva to promote pet project of her choice

It is well known that dance is a dancers voice, with this knowledge our Dance Diva will tour the country to promote a project of her choice. This will give her a chance to speak and impact through her dance. Her pet project should involve children, women, food or promoting arts. Dance Diva!! The search for a female dance star!!!

Dance Diva is a reality show for female dancers. It is a search for 10 girls who will tour four Nigerian cities and a Star (the Winner) whom the tour will be named after.

The intention of the dance diva contest is to annually develop a dance star for the international entertainment industry. The top 10 dancers will be trained by leading
choreographers in the state and will perform on high profile stages in the country.

Auditions will hold in Uyo on  the 19th & 20th November 2013 @ Dance Ville Studios E4a Ewet Housing Estate, near Sun center and in Ikot Ekpene on the 21st & 22nd November 2013 at Prepster Royal Dutch, No.6 Progress road, 10am.  

In each of these cities 50 girls will be selected and invited for call backs. The call backs will hold from 27th to 30th November. 

At the Call backs the top 20 will  be selected and presented to the world through 2479ja TV for voting. The world will pick our top 10.
